Report: Iran hangs 10 convicted of murder, armed robbery

Iran hanged 10 men convicted of murder and armed robbery, media reported on Thursday, bringing to 40 the number of people executed since the beginning of 2008. The state-owned IRAN newspaper said four of the men, who were identified only by their first names, were executed Wednesday in the notorious Evin prison just north of the capital, Teheran. The Etemaad independent daily said that six other men were hanged Wednesday in city of Zanjan, 320 kilometers (200 miles) west of the capital. They were convicted of armed robbery and murder.
