Solana cautiously optimistic about Iran talks

Javier Solana, the EU's foreign policy chief, was cautiously optimistic that progress was possible in talks with top Iranian negotiator Ali Larijani later this week to persuade Iran to return to negotiations over its nuclear program. "I don't have any guarantee that its going to be a success, but I don't have any guarantee that its going to be a failure," Solana told reporters Monday. "There is a possibility of moving the process forward, that's what I think." Solana's aim at the Wednesday talks in Ankara, Turkey, is to persuade Iran to curb its uranium enrichment activities in exchange for negotiations about economic incentives.
