Iran on Sunday said it has summoned Norway's ambassador to Teheran in protest to an Iranian opposition leader's visit to Oslo next week.
"The ambassador of Norway has been summoned. Diplomatic efforts are taking place. Necessary warnings are being given," said Mohammad Ali Hosseini, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman.
Members of the Norwegian parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee planned to hold talks with Iranian opposition leader Maryam Rajavi in Oslo next week.
In October, Iran summoned ambassadors of Belgium and Finland to protest a visit by Rajavi, an outspoken human rights activist considered as a terrorist by the Iranian regime, to the Belgium senate.
Rajavi, who lives in Paris, is the "president-elect" of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, who Tehran has accused of waging an armed struggle against the country's government.
