Wife of founder of Iran's Islamic republic dies at 93

The wife of the late Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the father of Iran's 1979 Islamic revolution, died at the age of 93. Khadijeh Saqafi, who was known as the "mother of the Islamic revolution," died Saturday in Teheran after a long illness, Iran's state television said Sunday. State TV reported that thousands of people, including senior officials, attended her funeral. Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei also led prayers before her burial on Sunday.
