Music community reacts to the death of ‘The Voice’ singer Christina Grimmie

Two days before the mass shooting in Orlando, ouTube singing sensation Christina Grimmie was shot and killed at a concert in Orlando on June 10.

Two days before the mass shooting in Orlando, Florida killing 50, YouTube singing sensation Christina Grimmie was shot and killed at a concert in Orlando on June 10.
Grimmie, 22, was a former contestant on the popular TV show The Voice, where she had finished third and became a fan favorite.
Since the news of Grimmie’s death, some of the American music community has rallied around her.
Grimmie’s coach on The Voice, popular singer Adam Levine, posted a selfie on Instagram with Grimmie, writing, “I’m sad, shocked and confused... This just isn’t fair.”
Other members of The Voice community tweeted out their remorse. Singer and producer Pharrell Willaims tweeted the next morning, “This is a tragic loss. My heart goes out to @therealgrimmie’s family, friends and all the people that she touched.”
Host Carson Daly tweeted, “So sad about @TheRealGrimmie. I’m still in shock. She was special.
Had IT. Talented. Kind. Funny.
Loving. Courageous. We hurt w her family.”
Singer Selena Gomez posted a picture of herself and Grimmie with the caption, “My heart is absolutely broken. I miss you Christina” before playing tribute to her late friend at her concert in Miami, Florida. According to E! News, Gomez later canceled her meet-and-greets with fans in Miami in lieu of the tragedy.
Pop singer, Charlie Puth, dedicated his song “See You Again” to Grimmie at his show in New York City and members of the band Fifth Harmony also took time to share a special message and dedicate a song.
The support came from her fans as well. Her older brother, Marcus Grimmie, shared a humbling thank you on his Facebook page after 4,284 donations piled into a GoFundMe page created for the Grimmie family.
Christina’s manager, Brian Teefly of LH7 management, generated the page out of his own sorrow for the loss of the singer whom he considered “a second daughter.” Teefly is also coincidentally the stepfather of Selena Gomez and began managing Christina when she was just 14.
Marcus asked fans not to feel inclined to donate, but to instead post pictures of memories of his sister after the GoFundMe site initially established to raise $4,000 raised over $100,000.
“I’m so blown away by everything right now. But all I can say is thank you. And Christina will be missed and never ever forgotten,” he wrote.
In the Facebook post, Marcus concluded by asking fans to sign a petition on change.org to help commemorate his sister in the next Legend of Zelda video game, “her favorite game of all time.”
