The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles and Unistream, an Israeli organization dedicated to empowering students from the social and geographic periphery, announced a partnership in Israel this week to minimize socioeconomic gaps.
The partnership aims to scale Unistream’s activities in Israel over the next few years, increasing the number of underprivileged youth who will participate in its cutting-edge program, allowing them to fulfill their entrepreneurial dreams.
“We are partnering with Unistream to bridge the socioeconomic gap between those who are living the start-up dream in Israel and those who haven’t even had the opportunity to dream at all,” Jay Sanderson, president and CEO of the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles said.
The partnership is based on the federation’s values of identifying and addressing challenges and opportunities in communities in Los Angeles, Israel and around the world, while focusing on caring for and strengthening the Jewish community for today and for the future.
“This partnership will positively impact the students, their families and communities in Israel, forever changing the trajectory of their lives,” Sanderson said. “We are looking forward to embarking on this partnership together and strengthening our community here and abroad for generations to come.”
Unistream has been working with teens and young adults from the sociogeographic periphery for more than a decade, empowering them and providing them with the tools to be the next creators, inventors and entrepreneurs in the Start-Up Nation.
“Every day we witness the impact and importance of Unistream’s work among young Israelis, who learn to embrace an entrepreneurial mindset and become the pioneers of tomorrow,” Rony Zarom, founder and chairman of Unistream, said.
Zarom thanked the federation for its partnership, for “embracing this proven approach and for recognizing what we can accomplish together.”
With this partnership, Unistream is poised to significantly deepen its impact by expanding its capacity, increasing the number of entrepreneurship centers throughout Israel, broadening its educational curriculum and by supporting and strengthening the growth of its alumni program.
“We are also grateful for the ongoing involvement of Israel’s business community and the Jewish community of Los Angeles, who demonstrate day in and day out that together we can shape the future of a vibrant Israel,” Zarom added.
