1 killed, 11 injured in 2 separate car accidents

Young man killed while fixing his car at side of the road near Kiryat Ata; cars collide in Ashkelon.

One person was killed and 11 injured, three of them seriously, in car accidents on Saturday morning. In a collision between two vehicles near Kiryat Ata, 20-year-old Talal Mishlab was killed, another young man was seriously injured and four others lightly injured. An initial police investigation found that Talal had parked his car by the side of the road after a malfunction, shortly before another car drove into the parked vehicle. Talal and his friend, who was seriously hurt, were standing outside their car and trying to fix it when the accident occurred. The casualties were evacuated to Rambam Medical Center in Haifa. In Ashkelon, seven people were injured, two of them seriously and the rest moderately, in a head-on collision between two cars. Magen David Adom evacuated the injured to the city's Barzilai Hospital. According to the preliminary police probe, the cars collided after a woman in her forties drove her car across a traffic island.
