21-year-old hit-and-run suspect arrested

Karmiel accident leaves 3-year-old with severe injuries.

A 21-year-old man was arrested Tuesday night in connection with a hit-and-run accident that occurred Monday in Karmiel. Israel Radio reported that the man is a resident of a nearby Beduin neighborhood.
Police stated that the car involved in the incident had not passed a safety test and the driver did not have a license. The man had allegedly admitted to driving the vehicle, and said that he fled the scene because he was frightened.

A three-year-old boy was badly injured in the accident.  Magen David Adom crews took the boy to the Rambam Hospital in Haifa by helicopter, where he was being treated.
According to reports, the car owner is the man's uncle, 30, who was also arrested for helping him repair the car for the purposes of concealing evidence from the crash.
Both suspects were due in court on Wednesday.
