22 years jail time for 'mystic' who raped women

Meir Pehima was convicted and sentenced to 22 years in jail on charges of sexual assault, obscene acts, and extortion of women who hoped to be cured by his "super-natural powers," Army Radio reported Sunday. According to the report, Pehima presented himself and his partner as men with super-natural powers, and he claimed that they were capable of removing mystical spirits from the women. However, once "treatment" was underway, he would take advantage of his patients, sexually assaulting them and in some cases raping them. In addition to the jail time, Pehima was ordered to pay his victims NIS 300,000.
