Forty soldiers serving in an air force base in the Negev complained of stomach pains and vomiting on Thursday.
Four female soldiers were evacuated to hospital after showing particularly acute symptoms of an intestinal infection, Israel Radio reported.
The IDF said Friday morning that the situation was under investigation, and that the sewer system of the base may have been damaged.
