8 new outposts established 'in honor' of Hannuka

Eight illegal outposts were established on Tuesday morning in the West Bank and near the Kissufim crossing into the Gaza Strip. The eight were part of the 25 new settlements being planned by right-wing activists in honor of Hannuka, Army Radio reported. The activists were simultaneously planning daily candle-lighting ceremonies at various junctions countrywide in accordance with the holiday. Peace Now's Director-General Yariv Oppenheimer called upon the police to investigate the people he believes are responsible for the erection of the outposts, including Nadia Matar, Rabbi Dov Lior, and Daniella Weiss. The IDF dismissed the new outposts, saying the initiative is merely peripheral.
