Aharon Barak to receive French Legion of Honor Medal

Former Supreme Court president Professor Aharon Barak will be awarded the French Legion of Honor Medal in a ceremony that will take place Wednesday at the home of French ambassador to Israel Jean-Michel Casa. The French embassy announced that the distinction, which was also bestowed in the past on personages such as Moshe Dayan, Shimon Peres and Amos Oz, will be awarded to Barak for his contribution to "furthering equality between all citizens of Israel." "I thank the president of the [French] republic for this honor, and consider it an expression of the tightening of ties between the judges of France… and the judges of Israel," Barak said.
