Alert level raised at prisons nationwide

After holding a planning meeting with Internal Security Minister Avi Dichter on Sunday evening, Prisons Service head Ya'akov Ganot announced that the level of alert at security prisons nationwide would be raised, and that all visits to Palestinian security prisoners would be canceled. The move follows Sunday morning's attack at Kerem Shalom that left two soldiers dead and one soldier kidnapped by Palestinian terror groups. Later Sunday evening, a second situational assessment was scheduled following the security cabinet meeting during which prison officials were expected to review their strategy for the coming days. The Prisons Service announced they would not permit prisoners to express celebration at any possible outcome of events. Nevertheless, the Prisons Service reprted that in a few wards, celebratory cheers were heard. In those areas, the cell blocks were closed and the prisoners punished.
