A Beersheba labor court ruled that the National Insurance Service must recognize a worker at the nuclear reactor at Dimona as a work-related fatality because he died of cancer.
In the precedent-setting ruling, the judge decided that there is a connection between th cancer that killed Yosef Pahima, who worked as a technician at the nuclear site, and his work conditions. “The judge adopted the opinions of experts who determined that people who work with radiation may develop cancer,†Reuven Laster, the Pahima family’s attorney, said to Army Radio.
As a result of the ruling, Pahima’s family will be entitled to receive a special allowance allocated to families of victims of workplace injury.
