A family picnic by the Kinneret turned into a nightmare Sunday afternoon, when the family's car suddenly rolled down a hill and crushed the picnickers, fatally injuring one baby and critically injuring another. The extended family from the Galilee town of Tur'an had pulled off Route 92 and parked their vehicle approximately 10 meters from the road to enjoy a picnic. Suddenly, the vehicle began to roll toward the family members, who did not manage to flee the path of the oncoming car. All of the picnickers were injured in the collision. The father rushed the two most seriously injured of his children, a four-month-old baby boy and an 18-month-old girl, in the direction of nearby Tiberias. A Magen David Adom ambulance met the family halfway, and took the two babies to Poriya Hospital, where the baby girl succumbed to her injuries. The four-month-old was transferred in critical condition to Haifa's Rambam Medical Center, which has a more advanced trauma center than Poriya. He remained in critical condition Sunday evening, suffering from serious head injuries. The family's grandmother and an 18-year-old cousin were both taken to Poriya Hospital, where they were hospitalized in moderate to serious condition.
