Kadima Chairman MK Roni Bar-On said Monday morning that Prime Minister Ariel Sharon did not promise Shaul Mofaz the defense portfolio when Mofaz decided to join the Kadima party.
"The only thing that was agreed was that he would remain in the position of defense minister until the elections. Nothing was promised regarding his position when Kadima heads the government, just as nothing was promised to me nor to nearly any of us," Bar-On told Army Radio.
Mofaz's close associates, however, insisted that Sharon guaranteed Mofaz the role of defense minister in the next government.
