Barak calls on PM to internalize Winograd report

Candidate for Labor party chair Ehud Barak came out on Tuesday with a somewhat ambiguous statement in his first press conference since the release of the Winograd report on the Second Lebanon War. On the one hand, Barak said, the Winograd report was harsh and should compel Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to reach personal conclusions as head of state. On the other hand, Barak said he would be willing to serve under Ehud Olmert and "contribute from [his] experience" in a transitional government that would serve before elections for the eighteenth Knesset. According to Barak, if Olmert does not internalize the report's conclusions by May 29, he will act to bring forward the general elections.
