Defense Minister Ehud Barak ordered security officials to close the crossings between Israel and the Gaza Strip Tuesday overnight, following the launch of a Kassam rocket from the coastal territory. Food and other goods will not be allowed to cross into Gaza until Thursday, when a new security assessment will be held. The rocket was launched from the north of the Strip Tuesday night, and hit the Sha'ar Hanegev region. No one was wounded and no damage was reported in the latest truce violation. The incident continues a pattern of sporadic Gazan mortar and rocket attacks since the cease-fire was declared two months ago. Israel has intermittently closed the Gaza crossings in response to such attacks.
