Painful concessions for both sides are to be expected in peace negotiations with Syria, Defense Minister Ehud Barak said Sunday. Barak said the negotiations must take place on all levels and be conducted responsibly, while maintaining Israel's interests. "The negotiations are not expected to be short or easy," Barak said. Because of this, he went on, only a strong, trained IDF "will ensure our safety." In the end, he said, "this is also the thing that will bring peace."
