Defense Minister Ehud Barak visited Mercaz Harav Yeshiva on Monday night and met with the yeshiva's head Rabbi Yaakov Shapira and with students who had witnessed the murder of their friends by a Palestinian terrorist last Thursday. Barak also escorted Yitzhak Dadon, a student who shot the terrorist, who reconstructed his experience. "I cannot look you in the eyes and promise that such incidents will not recur in the future," he said. "The battle against terrorism is at its peak, but this incident elucidates the realization that we need to fight." According to Army Radio, Barak made many allusions to biblical verses during his meeting with the students. "My words are still not final, but my gut feeling is that Mercaz Harav Yeshiva wasn't picked as the target for this atrocious terror attack by chance," he said. "This is a place of strength and might; a place that symbolizes the power of the Jewish people."
