Basketball fan remanded again for firecracker attack

The Jerusalem District Court on Saturday extended the remand of a 20-year-old basketball fan suspected of hurling a firecracker during the Hapoel Jerusalem-Hapoel Holon game at Malha Arena, overturning a lower court ruling which would have placed him under house arrest, police said. Yossi Malach and a second suspect in the case are to be held through Monday when they are expected to be indicted for the November 11 attack. Siding with the prosecution, the court overturned a lower court ruling on Friday which would have placed the key suspect under house arrest. A security guard at the stadium who nearly lost three of his fingers after picking up the explosive device underwent nine hours of surgery to save his severely damaged hand.
