Beilin: Billions should be cut from defense budget

Meretz party head Yossi Beilin said Tuesday morning that it was both incredible and disappointing that Defense Minister Amir Peretz was against a cut in defense spending. MK Beilin said that the defense budget should be the primary source of funding for social programs and for fighting poverty. He added that several billion shekels and not just hundreds of millions should be cut from the defense budget, Israel Radio reported.
