Ben-Eliezer to Winograd: The IDF misled Olmert

In a testimony to the Winograd Committee, National Infrastructure Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer criticized the conduct of PM Ehud Olmert, Defense Minister Amir Peretz and former IDF Chief of Staff Dan Halutz during last year's Second Lebanon War. "The Prime Minister woke up one fine morning to a task, and the entire matter of security is foreign to him. The foreign minister took the job for lack of a better alternative and the chief of staff was not fit for the task," Ben-Eliezer said. "I think [the prime minister] was misled, and I'm putting this extremely mildly." The national infrastructure minister also said that Israel's response to the kidnapping of the two soldiers was the correct one, but still, "we made every possible mistake."
