Beterem promotes travel safety awareness month

Together with the Israel Police's traffic department and the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), Beterem, the National Center for Children's Safety and Health has launched a national campaign this month to raise awareness of travel safety for children. According to Beterem, while there has been an overall improvement in the awareness of using seatbelts and appropriate car seats for young children, there are still too many people who do not strap their children in safely. Figures published by the organization found that 41 percent of babies under a year, 40% of children aged 1-4 and 77% of older children up to age eight are either do not use seatbelts in the car or are not strapped in correctly. According to the law, children up to age eight should use either car seats or boosters and there is a NIS 250 fine for parents who do not strap their children in while driving.
