Prof. Uzi Arad is Founding Director of the Institute for Policy and Strategy at the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya (IDC).
At the Institute, he has established and chairs the annual Herzliya Conference, which has become the premier venue of discussion for Israel's leaders and policy-makers concerned with national security, broadly defined, and the foreign and domestic policies of Israel.
Prof. Arad is also Founder and Chair of the Atlantic Forum for Israel, and is advisor to the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.
Prior to this, and for twenty-five years, Prof. Arad served in the Mossad, Israel's foreign intelligence service, where he held senior positions in Israel and abroad, culminating in his tenure as Director of Intelligence.
Subsequently, Prof. Arad was appointed by then-Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to serve as his Foreign Policy Advisor.
Before his government work, Prof. Arad was a Professional Staff Member with the Hudson Institute in New York and then a Research Fellow at Tel Aviv University's Center for Strategic Studies. He received his Bachelor's degree from Tel-Aviv University.
In 1971 he was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship for advanced studies at Princeton University, where he earned his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in International Relations.
