Border guard wounded by rock may lose one eye

The Israeli border policemen who was evacuated to the Hadassah University Hospital at Mount Scopus on Sunday after his jeep was stoned by Palestinians was listed in serious condition on Monday morning, and may lose one of his eyes. The two policemen had been on duty guarding the construction of the security barrier being built around Jerusalem. Police noted that it was the second such incident in the last week. Policemen fired teargas and stun grenades to disperse the rioters who had gathered in the late afternoon in the outlying Jerusalem Arab village of Anata. Anata is one of at last five Jerusalem Arab villages slated to fall on the Palestinian side of the barrier when it is completed, much to the dismay and anger of local Arab residents who want to remain on the Israeli side of the barrier.
