Baha Khazin, aged four-and-half, was severely burned in a fire in his home that killed his 18-year-old sister. He was transferred to Hadassah-University Hospital in Ein Kerem where, under the supervision of Dr Ido Yatsiv and his team in the Pediatric Critical Care Unit, a life-saving follow-up operation was performed.
The visit by the parliamentarians included a tour of the Trauma Unit and Pediatric Oncology Hematology Department, where Palestinian and Israeli children are treated side by side.
Barbara Keeley MP, who led the delegation, said: "We greatly admire the... commitment to treat all patients regardless of race, ethnicity or political persuasion. Watching Palestinian and Israeli doctors working side by side is extremely encouraging and reaffirms our belief that any UK effort to boycott Israeli academics or doctors is completely misplaced."
The members of the delegation, including eight members of the House of Commons and three members of the House of Lords, also visited Sderot and met with residents. They also met with President Shimon Peres; Colette Avital, Deputy Speaker of the Knesset; Deputy Defense Minister Ephraim Sneh and Construction and Housing Minister Isaac Herzog.
In addition, they met with Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salaam Fayad; Hassan Khreishe, Vice-President of the Palestinian Legislative Council and Rafiq Husseini, chief of staff to PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas.
The delegation flies back to the UK on Friday.RECOMMENDED STORIESFour killed, over 130 wounded in Israel from Iranian fire, Tehran burns from IDF strikesJUNE 14, 2025IDF says aircraft operating in heart of Tehran, denies claim Iran shot down fighter jetJUNE 14, 2025Tehran under fire: IDF continues strikes in Iran, focusing on the capital – what was hit?JUNE 14, 2025The road to Tehran has been paved: IDF secures air route for stronger strikes on IranJUNE 14, 2025
