Brits in Israel advised not to travel to W. Bank

British consulate sends SMS travel advisory The British Consulate-General in Jerusalem on Tuesday advised British citizens in Israel not to travel to Jericho. In an SMS sent out to all registered Britons, it said: "We advise against all travel to Jericho." It later updated the advisory by saying, "We advise against all travel to occupied territories." A spokesman for the consulate said this is a new service to British citizens, and a further SMS will be sent out when travel to Jericho is safe. The British consulate Web site Travel Advice, however, still current at March 14, states: "We advise against all but essential travel to the West Bank apart from Jericho and Bethlehem."
