Channel 2 formalizes Keshet and Reshet franchise

The Second Broadcasting Authority said Monday that it would officially approve the new franchise rights for channel two franchisees Keshet and Reshet. The old rights expire Monday at midnight. Keshet and Reshet won the franchise rights to the channel for an additional 10 years. The channel's third franchisee, Telad, will lose its franchise right after failing to win one of the first two places in the tender published by the broadcasting authority earlier this year. Keshet and Reshet's approximate profits over the next ten years are estimated at 6.8 billion NIS. Keshet, who was ranked first in the tender, will broadcast four days a week, while Reshet will broadcast the three remaining days.
