Title chosen despite lack of "1st Lebanon War"; gov't to approve on Sunday.

The war in Lebanon last summer has officially been named the "Second Lebanon War," Channel 2 reported on Wednesday evening.
According to the report, ministers Ya'acov Edri and Eitan Cabel met with Defense Ministry representative Prof. David Liba'i and, after determining that there were no legal obstacles, decided on the name that the public has been using since the summer - despite the fact that there was never an official "First Lebanon War."
The decision will be brought before the cabinet for approval on Sunday.
On Monday, the government officially declared that the conflict with Hizbullah that began last July was, in fact, a war.

Edri, who represented the interministerial committee appointed to find a name for the war, told The Jerusalem Post on Sunday that he preferred the name "The War to Return the Captives" - referring to abducted reservists Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser, whose kidnapping touched off the conflict.
Other contenders for the name included "Operation Peace of the Galilee 2" and "The Northern War."
