Council head: IDF should help protect Sharon towns
By JPOST.COM STAFF
The head of the Drom Hasharon Regional Council asked OC Home Front Maj.-Gen. Gershon Yitzhak to help finance the construction of protected spaces for the region's thirty towns and kibbutzim.
In a letter to Yitzhak, council head Moti Dargo wrote that the settlements in the region were within range of missile fire from the west bank and should therefore receive help like frontline settlements, Israel Radio reported.
The building of protected spaces in the region is expected to cost tens of millions of shekels.
Dargo said that the efficacy of the protected spaces was proven in Netiv Ha'asara.
