Only 30 percent of soldiers released from the army who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder are recognized by the Ministry of Defense as disabled veterans, according to a petition due to be filed on Tuesday by a not-for-profit organization representing soldiers suffering from the disorder.

Suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress, is due to ask the court to order the Defense Ministry to extend the current statute of limitations for compensation for the disorder beyond the current three years, which is standard for most health problems.
The petitioners, represented by Attorneys Shlomo Zippori and Shlomo Rehavi, said that the disorder often comes to the surface much later on, but the defense ministry automatically rejects applications for compensation if three years have passed since the events that caused it.
