Daniel Friedmann tops list for justice minister

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert guaranteed to the Kadima faction on Monday that he would appoint a new justice minister to replace Haim Ramon by Tuesday morning. Prof. Daniel Friedmann, winner of the 1991 Israel Prize, was expected to be appointed, Army Radio reported. Friedmann was dean of the Tel Aviv University law faculty from 1974 to 1978. He won the Zeltner Prize in 1983 and was among the first to push for an Israeli constitution. Friedmann shared the 1991 Israel Prize for law with Prof. Nili Cohen.
