Several Arab protesters scuffled with police Tuesday during a small Jerusalem protest calling for the release of the Palestinian killers of the late Tourism Minister Rehavam Ze'evi, police said.
The lawful demonstration, which was held opposite Jerusalem police headquarters, turned violent after one of the several dozen protesters at the early-afternoon event erected a Palestinian flag, and police immediately took it down, Jerusalem police spokesman Shmuel Ben-Ruby said.
Two of the demonstrators involved in the brawl were detained for questioning.
Ze'evi's killers were caught last month during an Israeli army raid in the West Bank city of Jericho. They are due to stand trial in an Israeli court later this year.
