Dichter attacks courts: 'Punishment must be fitted to Israeli reality'

Public Security Minister Avi Dichter attacked the justice system on Wednesday, saying "punishment, which should complement Police work, must be complementary with Israeli reality."
"The question that begs asking is: hasn't the balance between criminals' rights and society's rights been broken. Why should a criminal who has proven that the lives of others are cheap to him not remain behind bars, in order to ensure that he doesn't once again harm civilians and policemen?" Dichter said.
