Disengagement Committee approves rubble disposal

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon convened the Ministerial Disengagement Committee on Sunday to approve ways to deal with the rubble from the demolished structures in the Gaza Strip. The goals of the approved agreement between the government and the UN are to ensure the removal of the waste and the restoration of the area in a manner that corresponds to environmental principles. The disposal is also meant to free Israel of the responsibility of dealing with the structures by giving recyclable materials to the Palestinian Authority. The non-recyclable materials will be crushed and shipped to another country.
