Kittens and puppies younger than four-months-old will not be allowed for import due to concern about public health and the health of the young animals, the Agriculture Ministry's Veterinary Service said on Sunday.
Every dog or cat brought into the country must come with a document stating that it was vaccinated against rabies and that the shot is in effect. A state veterinarian from the country of origin must also state that the animal is healthy.
Dogs of dangerous breeds, such as Rottweilers, bull terriers (Amstaff) and pit bulls, may not be imported at all. All imported dogs must have an identification chip implanted under its skin.
