Dozens of African refugees abandoned in Beersheba

Some 45 African refugees were abandoned in the streets of Beersheba on Sunday, even though the IDF was supposed to bring them to the Ketziot prison. No one took responsibility for dealing with the refugees, who infiltrated Israel via the Sinai, except for local student volunteers. Beersheba, which has taken in hundreds of refugees over the past year, recently refused to take charge of any more, claiming that the refugees were the government's responsibility. The government, meanwhile, has said it plans to send the refugees to a camp site outside the Ketziot prison, where the refugees will await deportation to Egypt. However, the process has yet to be completed.
