National Security Council Maj.-Gen. (res.) Giora Eiland Sunday that within the Palestinian Authority a struggle for power was being waged between Hamas and Fatah, but that both sides sincerely wanted to abstain from a civil war.
Eiland added that while Israel must confront terror, it should also refrain from interfering in internal Palestinian affairs.
According to Construction, Housing, Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Ze'ev Boim, Hamas has assumed control over the PA, which has effectively become a terrorist entity.
