Environment Ministry warns Herzliya over water law violation

The Environmental Protection Ministry issued a warning to the Herzliya Municipality on Tuesday for violating the water law. According to the ministry, Herzliya has failed to clean up an unused quarry which has filled with 3,900 tons of water and thousands more pounds of refuse. The garbage and standing water has polluted the area. The violation carries a maximum penalty of NIS 350,000 or a year in jail. The ministry ordered the municipality to present a detailed clean-up plan by the end of February and to clear the quarry by July 1, 2008.
