Erdan protests Olmerts meeting with Likud mayors

MK Gilad Erdan (Likud) was set on Wednesday to appeal to Attorney General Menahem Mazuz the intention of Finance Minister Ehud Olmert to meet with Likud mayors. Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's associates already met the mayors of Ramat Gan, Hadera, Eilat, Kiryat Ono, and other cities in order to urge them to quit the Likud in favor of the nascent political party, according to Army Radio. Erdan's objection to the finance minister's appointments was based on Olmert's authority to approve funds to the municipalities headed by the mayors with whom he was to meet - something that may be seen as political bribery.
