A group of 10 ambassadors from EU countries visited the Ramat David Israeli Air Force base in the North on Thursday and received briefings from senior officers concerning the overflights Israel conducts in Lebanon.
The ambassadors were presented with classified intelligence information showing convoys of weapons being smuggled into Lebanon through the Syrian border.
The officers explained that the overflights were necessary to gather intelligence and follow Hizbullah efforts to rebuild its military wing.
European countries have repeatedly called on Israel to stop flying over Lebanon, claiming that the flights endangered the UNIFIL forces on the ground and undermined UN resolution 1701.
