The European Union will not transfer funds directly to the Palestinian Authority until it recognizes Israel, renounces violence and respects previously signed agreements, Israel Radio reported overnight Thursday.
The EU, Louis Michel, the commissioner for development and humanitarian aid told reporters in Tel Aviv, will continue to provide aid to the Palestinians by transferring money to sources not affiliated to the Authority. Officials estimate that the Palestinians will receive approximately 34 million US dollars every month.
Michel had met earlier Thursday with Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni.
