Ezra considers shutting down TA power plant

Environment Minister Gideon Ezra on Sunday considered shutting down the Reading Power Plant in Tel Aviv within a few days until it would be powered by natural gas, rather than crude oil. The plant has been obligated for half a year to make the transition to natural gas. Both the gas and electric companies claimed to be prepared for the change, and accuse each other for the delay, Army Radio reported. The environmentalist group Man, Nature, and Law claimed that running the plant on crude oil was responsible for 25% of the air pollution in the Tel Aviv area.
