Ezra supports idea to unify police into 3 branches

Internal Security Minister Gideon Ezra announced his support for Police Ins.-Gen. Moshe Karadi's plan to unify all the various branches of the Israel Police into three distinct sections.
One section would be the General Staff, another would be Patrol and Security, and the third would be the Investigations and Intelligence arm of the police force.
The Investigations and Intelligence branch was created a year ago, and the two other branches could be established within two years, Israel Radio reported.
Police officials believe that unifying the sections would be very effective, and would cut down on the length of commanders' shifts and the number of police working in headquarters. The change is likely to increase the number of officers in the field, as well.
Ezra will request a report on how the change would be cost effective.
