The families of the 21 victims of the suicide bombing attack at Haifa's Maxim restaurant two years ago staged a demonstration at the scene on Monday to press for a memorial to be established.
They charged that the owners were being recalcitrant over setting up a site to permanently commemorate those who were killed when a Palestinian woman blew herself up in the heart of the restaurant.
The owners have said they would agree to a memorial provided it would not be sited near the entrance, which could deter potential customers. Efforts were under way to reach a compromise that would be allow a tribute to the victims to be built, without harming the restaurant business.
