The Tel Aviv District Court denied the request of the family of an 80-year-old man who is currently in what is defined as a "vegetative state" to discontinue life support.
The patient left no instructions for what to do if he should ever be in such a condition.
Judge Uri Goren ruled that the patient was not "fatally ill," and therefore did not meet the criteria required to stop extending a patient's life by artificial means, Israel Radio reported.
