Finance Ministry Director-General Yossi Becher refused on Sunday to commit to paying the local authorities' delayed salaries by the end of next week as per the National Labor Court's orders, Army Radio reported.
"We'll transfer the money in cases where we can do so, but there are still many authorities with problems of outside legal complications," Becher said.
He estimated, however, that despite the delays, there would not be another general strike, and he emphasized that his office was working to solve the problem as quickly as possible.
Last Thursday, the National Labor Court gave the Finance Ministry a week's extension to pay the salaries and forbade the Histadrut to call another strike after the two sides failed to reach an agreement on the issue over the previous week.
