Nine firefighting squads took control over a large brush fire at the Carmel Park in northern Israel on Tuesday afternoon. The blaze had spread to seven dunams, due to high winds. The cause of the fire was unknown, although a warden discerned a group of men fleeing the area. The group was thought to be metal thieves who were trying to remove metal from telephone poles and other places, Israel Radio reported. Police were investigating the matter. This would not have been the first time metal thieves started a fire in the area.
