Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom commended a new trend of Muslim nations offering diplomatic recognition of Israel. Shalom said that he made establishing new international relationships a primary goal of his term in office, but credited many of the initiatives to the American-led fight against terror. Shalom related in a Channel 10 interview Sunday night that he was invited to make a speech in Tunisia in November. Shalom also noted the progress made in various Arab countries concerning democratization and human rights. Specifically he mentioned the elections in Lebanon and the voting on a Kuwaiti amendment allowing women to vote.
